St Helens prop Kyle Amor was red-carded after just 12 minutes of their Betfred Super League derby with Wigan.
Amor was given his marching orders by referee Ben Thaler for a high challenge on Liam Marshall as the Warriors winger ran the ball from his own tryline.
It was a nightmare start for Saints as they began life without coach Keiron Cunningham, who was sacked on Monday.
Marshall was able to continue and the Wigan youngster scored two second-half tries to help them into a 23-12 lead.
