Hull KR captain Shaun Lunt has been crowned Kingstone Press Championship player of the year after leading his side back to Betfred Super League.

The former Huddersfield and Leeds hooker, who stayed loyal to the Robins following their relegation 12 months ago, led from the front in their successful campaign in the Championship and subsequent Super 8s Qualifiers.

Lunt received the award, ahead of team-mate Chris Atkin and Toulouse Olympique's Mark Kheirallah, at a presentation evening in Manchester, where London Broncos' Andrew Henderson was named coach of the year after topping a poll of fellow coaches.

Bradford forward James Bentley, who has been signed by St Helens for 2018, was named young player of the year, while Toronto Wolfpack captain Craig Hall won the League 1 player of the year award and Whitehaven player-coach Carl Forster was named the League 1's top coach.
