Castleford coach Daryl Powell has confirmed the club have given a new contract to prop forward Andy Lynch.
The 36-year-old, who is in his second spell with his home-town club, has agreed a one-year contract extension as well as an option to add another year.
And the deal takes the Super League's oldest player to beyond his 38th birthday, much to the delight of Powell.
"Andy Lynch has been unbelievable as a professional and as a player in his time since he has returned to Castleford Tigers," Powell said.
"I'm delighted he has agreed to extend his stay with us further and look forward to working with him as he helps to drive the standards even higher at the club."
Lynch re-joined the Tigers at the start of the 2014 season following spells with Bradford and Hull FC.
He became the oldest player in the top flight following the retirement of Jamie Peacock and Adrian Morley at the end of last season but says age is just a number as he prepares to start his 18th season.
"At this time the body feels good," Lynch said. "Age is just a number and, as long as I still feel I can give it my all, then I'll continue to play.
"Rugby league has been my life, I enjoy every day working here at Cas and I don't want it to stop.
"This club is moving forward. Powelly has built a fantastic working environment here and it's a great feeling to know I will continue to be part of it beyond this season. Cas is a great place to be."
Lynch is the third Castleford player to extend his contract this week, following new deals offered to Adam Milner and Oliver Holmes.
Castleford chief executive Steve Gill said: "We had no hesitation in agreeing an extension with Andy. He still plays long minutes and his leadership and respect throughout the team is immense.
"Andy's form last season saw many people talk about him as Man of Steel material and I totally agree. He brings a wealth of experience and professionalism that he's now passing along to our younger players."
Lynch missed the season opener at Hull KR last Sunday after undergoing wrist surgery but is set to return against Wakefield on Sunday.
