Michael Dobson laid on two tries and added five conversion and a late drop goal to lead Hull KR to a 31-18 victory over Wakefield on Sunday.
The Wildcats never recovered from the early loss of Brad Drew and an 18-point deficit inside 34 minutes as the hosts crossed three times before the break and twice more in the second period.
Wakefield responded with three scores of their own but crashed to their second engage Super League defeat of the campaign.
Drew departed after a big hit from Scott Murrell and Rovers promptly went into the lead, Dobson's pass sending in Shaun Briscoe for the try in the 18th minute.
The sides remained in something of a deadlock but it was Rovers who broke through again on the 16 minutes later when prop Clint Newton burst onto a pass from Murrell to touch down, Dobson again adding the two.
Just four minutes passed before the hosts extended their lead further, Murrell this time crossing the whitewash after hesitation in the Wakefield defence.
The visitors did have time to respond before the break though, when a looping pass found Kevin Henderson on the wide outside to score - Tony Martin successfully converting.
Oliver Wilkes was held up on the line as the 'Cats came out strongly after the interval, but Rovers scored again in the 52nd minute when hooker Ben Fisher forced his way over from dummy half.
Dobson was again involved in the fifth try before the hour mark, finding Liam Colbon to go over in the corner before adding the touchline conversion.
The match was as good as lost with 20 minutes remaining but Wakefield hit back twice, Briscoe holding up Steve Snitch before Dale Ferguson found a hole to go through.
Sean Gleeson added the visitors' third nine minutes from the end with Martin converting for a third time, but fittingly it was Dobson who rounded off the scoring with a one-pointer three minutes from the hooter.
