Hull coach Justin Morgan must do without captain Mick Vella for the short term after he injured knee ligaments in the 13-13 draw with Bradford on the opening day of the season
Although the injury is not considered serious, Vella could be sidelined for six weeks and therefore misses the home tie with champions Leeds on Friday night.
Rovers will also be missing Chev Walker after the former Leeds centre was handed a one-match ban for striking, with his appeal rejected by a hearing on Wednesday night.
Leeds coach Brian McClennan is able to welcome back skipper Kevin Sinfield and veteran centre Keith Senior.
The pair both missed last week's 18-4 victory over Wakefield due to niggles but return to the starting line-up against Rovers.
However, Rob Burrow continues to struggle with a back problem and misses out once again, while Ali Lauitiiti joins him on the sidelines after suffering a knock against the Wildcats.
"We are delighted to have Keith and Kev back available this week," said McClennan.
"Ali and Rob are coming along well with their injuries but Friday's game has come just too early for them.
"We are confident both will be available for selection next week."
