Three-year-olds have dominated this contest in recent seasons and no filly older than four has won the race in 20 years, which will count against Pearl Beach, Topanticipation and Precisely. VILLE DE GRACE is four but can buck the trend and record back-to-back victories in this. She has developed an aversion to the stalls but is very useful when consenting to race, as she showed when only beaten a nose by the subsequent Group 1 winner Dreamloper in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket in May – an absence since is not a concern. Mise En Scene was an eye-catcher in a Group 3 at Sandown last month and may prove the pick of the classic generation ahead of Sound Angela, Shaara and Sierra Nevada.
