TENZING NORGAY seemingly has a tough task in his bid for a hat-trick after winning at Lingfield on Tuesday. But it wouldn’t be the first time a Sir Mark Prescott representative has defied a double penalty and he gets the nod. The Newmarket trainer complicates matters by also running the unexposed St Michel while West Coast Flyer opened his account at Wolverhampton back in February and makes his handicap debut along with Hammer Gun. The latter steps up in trip and looks a bigger threat than Templier, well beaten over today’s distance on the all-weather last time.
West Coast Flyer 6-4fav (9-5) Held up in 4th, switched right and closed over 3f out, ridden and edged left over 1f out, straightened up and ran on to lead well inside final furlong, won at Wolverhampton 1m 4f mdn stks (5) pol in Feb beating My Isla (9-0) by 1 1/2l, 5 ran.
Templier (IRE) 3-1 (9-5) Led, ridden and headed over 2f out, edged left and weakened over 1f out, 4th of 6, 22 1/2l behind Shoofly (9-0) at Lingfield 1m 4f mdn stks (5) pol in Mar.
Euchen Glen 7-1 (9-0) In rear, weakened over 2f out, last of 5, 26 1/2l behind Sindarban (10-0) at Hamilton 1m 1f mdn stks (5) gf in May.
Hammer Gun (USA) 11-2 (9-5) Held up in touch, headway on outside over 1f out, stayed on steadily in 4th inside final furlong, never nearer, 4th of 8, 7 3/4l behind Amazing Red (9-5) at Pontefract 1m 2f mdn stks (5) gs in Apr.
Tenzing Norgay 4-11fav (9-6) Keen, made all, 3 lengths clear entering final 2f, increased lead approaching final furlong, heavily eased towards finish, won at Lingfield 1m 4f hcp (5) pol in May beating Gabster (9-0) by 1 1/2l, 4 ran.
Nucky Thompson 25-1 (8-13) In rear, pushed along over 2f out, kept on inside final furlong, 5th of 8, 3 1/4l behind Paling (9-0) at Brighton 1m 2f hcp (4) gf in May.
Albert Boy (IRE) 8-1 (8-12) Led early, tracked leader, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 6th of 7, 18 1/4l behind Sagely (9-7) at Ripon 1m 2f hcp (4) gf in May.
St Michel 6-1 (9-7) Keen, close up, headway to lead 3f out, ridden 2f out, headed and no extra inside final furlong, 4th of 9, 1 3/4l behind Blakeney Point (9-6) at Leicester 1m 4f hcp (5) gd in May.
