The Dallas Cowboys paid tribute to former quarterback Tony Romo as he returned to AT&T Stadium for the first time since retiring.

The Dallas Cowboys paid tribute to former quarterback Tony Romo as he returned to AT&T Stadium to call their game against the Kansas City Chiefs for CBS.

The four-time Pro Bowler retired in the off-season after spending 13 seasons as a Cowboy.

This season the 37-year-old has been working as a colour analyst for CBS alongside Jim Nantz and has earned positive reviews for his insightful analysis from the booth.

But he remains beloved in Dallas and a special tribute to him which was narrated by his close friend was played for Cowboys fans prior to the game.

After the tribute, Nantz asked Romo what he thought of the video.

"Yeah, I wasn't prepared for that," he said. "So that was pretty emotional. It's an honour just to be lucky enough to have been in that position. Wow. It's emotional, Jim."
