Matt Ryan was named NFL regular season MVP at the NFL honours evening on Saturday, ahead of Super Bowl LI in Houston, Texas.
The Atlanta Falcons quarterback set a franchise record with 4,944 passing yards and led his franchise to only its second Super Bowl.
Ryan beat out New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to the award, and will now face off against the four-time champion in Super Bowl LI on Sunday.
Having thrown touchdowns to a record 13 different receivers this season, Ryan and the Falcons offence topped the NFL in points scored.
The team finished 11-5 to win the NFC South division, claiming second seed in the play-offs, before victories over the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers secured the organisation's first trip to the big game since 1998. .
Khalil Mack was named Defensive Player of the Year after recording 10.5 sacks for the Oakland Raiders, beating out Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller by just one vote.
San Diego Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa won Defensive Rookie of the Year, while Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott secured the Offensive honour, over team-mate and fellow rookie, Ezekiel Elliott.
There were more accolades for the Cowboys, as Dallas head coach Jason Garrett was given Coach of the Year, following a 13-3 record and NFC East championship, despite losing starting QB Tony Romo before the season began.
Jordy Nelson claimed Comeback Player of the Year, after scoring 14 touchdowns for the Green Bay Packers. Nelson tore his ACL last year, missing the entire season.
Together with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Nelson became one half of the most productive partnership in Packers history, totalling 58 touchdown scores.
