The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Rex Ryan.

The former New York Jets head coach was relieved of his duties after two seasons at the helm in Buffalo, and the Bills have also fired Ryan's twin brother Rob, who was the team's assistant head coach.

Buffalo have announced that offensive co-ordinator Anthony Lynn, who replaced Greg Roman in week three, will serve as the team's interim coach for their final match of the season, a road game against the Jets at Metlife Stadium.

Ryan was hired in 2015. The Bills went 8-8 that year and have a record of 7-8 this year. The 54-year-old has an overall record of 61-66 in eight seasons as an NFL head coach.

"I spoke with Rex earlier today and we mutually agreed that the time to part ways is now," Bills owner Terry Pegula said in a statement.
