Saints wide receiver Willie Snead finds Tim Hightower for a touchdown on a trick play against the Rams

The New Orleans Saints were already leading the Los Angeles Rams by 21 points when they got clever in the fourth quarter.

The Saints were facing 3rd and 3 from the 50-yard line when they sent wide receiver Willie Snead in motion from the left. He stopped in the slot as quarterback Drew Brees took the snap, and Brees threw the ball to Snead as if the Saints were setting up a screen pass.

Instead, Snead, who caught the ball a yard behind Brees and was legally allowed to throw it again, did just that. He took seven steps, moved to the centre of the field and unleashed a pass for running back Tim Hightower, who ran a wheel route out of the backfield caught the ball at the Rams' 27-yard line.

He had only one defender, safety Maurice Alexander, to beat, and did just that, completing what ended up being a 50-yard reception by scoring an easy touchdown that fuelled the Saints to an eventual 49-21 lead.
