Greg Owen and Fabian Gomez hold a share of the FedEx St Jude Classic lead heading into the final round, with Brooks Koepka in the mix one shot back.
With no player able to break clear out of a congested leaderboard, third round 69's from two of last year's Web.com Tour graduates saw Owen and Gomez move in to the clubhouse lead on nine under.
Mansfield-native Owen, who has yet to taste victory on the PGA Tour in 213 attempts since 1999, led after the first round on Thursday and repeated the feat two days later thanks to a solid display that included four birdies.
Overnight leader Koepka had briefly extended his advantage with a 20-foot eagle at the par-five third, before carding bogeys at his next two holes after sending his tee-shot at the fourth in to the water and missing a lengthy par-save at the next.
A first birdie of the day at the last lifted the American back alongside Scott Brown on eight under, with Owen having already picked up a shot at the par-four 18th to set the clubhouse target.
“I didn’t hit very many poor shots, even with the bogey at the 10th I was unlucky,” Owen told Sky Sports 4. “I played very solid again and I’m putting nicely. If I can keep putting like I’m putting and can keep it in play, then you never know.”
Gomez held the outright lead earlier in the day before dropping shots at the 11th and 13th, but holed a 35-foot putt at the 15th in the first of back-to-back birdies to ensure the Argentine will be part of the final pair out on Sunday.
Two early birdies from Matt Jones leaves the Australian three shots off the pace alongside Austin Cook, who began the day one shot off the pace and remains in contention despite carding three bogeys on the back nine.
A front nine 31 helped Tim Wilkinson to a five-under 65 to move the New Zealander part of the large group five off the lead that includes Ryan Palmer, Chris Smith and Chad Campbell, with Phil Mickelson opening with a three-putt double-bogey on his way to a level par 70 to stay three under.
