Fails of the day from the opening round at Augusta

While Charley Hoffman made light work of the blustery conditions during the opening round at Augusta, he was very much the exception.

Jordan Spieth infamously found the water at the 12th as he surrendered a five-shot lead during last year's tournament and while he managed to avoid the same fate at that particular hole, he did end up in the drink a couple of holes later.

The 2015 champion was made to pay for finding the water at 15, carding a quadruple bogey nine. However, he was not the only one forced to fetch their ball from the water; both Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm were wayward at the 13th and failed to find dry land.

Elsewhere, Matt Fitzpatrick suffered a disappointing end to an otherwise fine round. His tee shot at the 18th set the tone as he finished with a double bogey.
