Former major champions Adam Scott and Bubba Watson were among their players to see their FedExCup hopes ended at the Dell Technologies Championship.
Only the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings after TPC Boston progressed to the BMW Championship - the third of the PGA Tour's season-ending four play-off series - with both players failing to move inside that bubble.
Watson dropped three places to 75th spot after ending the week in a share of 69th, while Scott slipped to 79th position with a missed cut and Branden Grace also failed to progress.
Three players jumped in to the top 70 to extend their seasons, with former Open champion Stewart Cink rising 24 places in to 57th after grabbing 12th spot.
Spain's Rafa Cabrera Bello fired a bogey-free 65 to finish the week inside the top 20 and move from 80th to 60th, while Emiliano Grillo finished 22nd to jump 15 places in the standings to 62nd.
Russell Knox and Kelly Kraft both slipped out of the top 70 and were eliminated from the remaining events, with Knox struggling to tied-61st and Kraft not progressing beyond 36-holes.
Brandt Snedeker, who has been out through injury since June's Travelers Championship, has also seen his season officially ended.
IN (Last week's position in brackets)

60 (80) Rafa Cabrera Bello
62 (77) Emiliano Grillo

The field reduces further for the final event of the season - the Tour Championship - where only the top 30 in the standings remain in with a chance of claiming the $10million jackpot.
Masters champion Sergio Garcia (34th), Ian Poulter (47th) and Rory McIlroy (51st) all need a strong performance in Illinois to break inside the top 30.
