One of the features of the first World Golf Championship event to be played in Mexico has been the number of shots holed from off the green, and there was a seemingly never-ending stream of hole-outs in the third round.
Several players in the elite field at Chapultepec have made big strides up the leaderboard this week without the need to use a putter, and Saturday was a prime example of sublime shot-making from around the greens.
Ryder Cup star Rafa Cabrera Bello chipped in for one unlikely birdie and then found the bottom of the cup from a bunker later in his round, while Phil Mickelson's adventurous opening hole ended with an almost-inevitable pitch-in for a birdie-three.
Hideto Tanihara also demonstrated his ability from the sand, and Hong Open Open champion Sam Brazel and Scotland's Russell Knox were also on target with a wedge in hand, although Danny Willett was past caring when his bunker escape dropped in the hole!
The highlight, of course, was the remarkable "slam dunk" hole-in-one for the red-hot Justin Thomas which capped one of the most entertaining days since the inception of the WGC.
