Rory McIlroy struck a hole-out eagle on his way to moving top of the leaderboard during the second round of the WGC-Mexico Championship.

The world No 3 fired a joint-low round-of-the-day at Chapultepec Golf Club to move two strokes clear of the field, with one shot in particular standing out from his six-under 65.

McIlroy three-putted the first but posted four birdies over the front nine to reach the turn in 31.

The Northern Irishman then cancelled out a bogey-five at the 12th with a birdie at the next, before witnessing the highlight of his round at the par-four 14th.

After sending his tee shot in to the middle of the fairway, McIlroy saw his 152-yard approach land 15 feet left of the flag but kicking back on to the green and rolling in to the cup for an unlikely eagle.
