"We started off outstandingly well, with Jos up to the top of the order for us - he and Jason really did get us off to a flier, expressing themselves against that new ball."

Eoin Morgan hailed "another fantastic performance" from his England side in the one-off Twenty20 International against Australia.

Jos Buttler (61) hit England's fastest T20 half-century, from 22 balls, as the hosts posted 221-5 at Edgbaston before bowling out Australia for 193 to win by 28 runs.

The victory came on the back of England's 5-0 whitewash of the Aussies in the ODI series.

"It was another fantastic performance," Morgan said. "With the bat, we started off outstandingly well, with Jos up to the top of the order for us - he and Jason (Roy) really did get us off to a flier, expressing themselves against that new ball.

"From there, we managed to kick on, didn't take our foot off the pedal."

The decision to promote Buttler to open, where he enjoyed such success for Rajasthan Royals in this year's IPL, meant the in-form Jonny Bairstow had to drop into the middle order.

"We're lucky at the moment, we probably have six out of the top seven that could open the batting," he told Sky Sports.

"With the likes of Bairstow coming in at No 6 and Moeen (Ali) at No 7, you can keep going hard.

"That really paid off today. We got about 15-20 over par - and we needed them, with Australia coming back hard at us with the bat."

Meanwhile, Australia coach Justin Langer admitted that he could not help but be impressed by England during the six white-ball games and that his side need to learn from the experience of taking on such an accomplished side.

"I've been absolutely blown away by how well England are playing," he said. "They're at the peak of their powers right now, and we've come up against them.

"A few of the boys have walked into the jungle, and we'll see how they go over the next two, three or 10 years."

England now head into an Indian summer, with three T20 internationals, three one-day internationals and five Tests against Virat Kohli's side. Watch the first T20, at Old Trafford, live from 5pm on Tuesday on Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event.
