Ben Hall has laughed off a verbal attack from Carson Jones and intends to prove he is a "young kid who can fight" when they meet at Wembley Arena.
The 23-year-old super-welterweight steps up in class against the seasoned Jones on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports 2 HD.
Jones suffered a hard-fought points defeat to Kell Brook four years ago and has mocked Hall's inexperience, describing him as a "kid" and vowed to ruin the prospect's unbeaten record.
But Hall has refused to be drawn into a war of words and wants to prove a point to the American veteran when the first bell rings at the weekend.
"In all fairness, he's not wrong, I've only had 10 fights," Hall told Sky Sports. "All prospects have inexperience and have that one fight to propel themselves - and this is my one fight. After this fight, I'll take his experience and add it to my game.
"I'm a young kid, but I'm a young kid who can fight and a young kid who believes in himself, and is going to do the business. He's had more KOs than years I've been on the planet. But what does that mean? We'll find out on the night."
The Essex fighter admits it is "surreal" to be facing Jones having been a teenager when he watched the 30-year-old's clashes with Brook, which both ended in defeat for the Oklahoma man.
When offered the Jones fight, Hall insists he did not hesitate to take it, and is keen to show that he is a rising contender in the division.
"I took it with a pinch of salt. I believe I'm that level so why not?" said Hall.
"It's quite surreal because I grew up watching him, the fights between Kell Brook and Carson Jones. I watched them as a young kid, but now I'm fighting him. I know what he does well. I'm a student of the game.
"He's had a few fights, he's been through wars and wars, so there are only so many times you can keep going to the well.
"I'm going to use my feet, make sure he has to use his feet to pin me down, and I'll break him up while he's doing that.
"People see me as a come-forward counter puncher, but I can box on the back foot really well and people are going to learn about that on Saturday night."
