Jamie McDonnell plans to enjoy Christmas before deciding whether to quit the bantamweight division in the New Year.
McDonnell defended his version of the WBA title for a fifth time on Sky Sports at the weekend, winning a points decision against tough Venezuelan Liborio Solis in Monte Carlo.
Solis hurt the champion early in the fight and the unanimous verdict - particularly the 117-111 scorecard of one judge - raised eyebrows among some ringside observers.
But McDonnell says he was always "95 per cent" sure he had won, and his thoughts now will turn to the possibility of stepping up to super-bantam, where the likes of Scott Quigg await.
He told Sky Sports News HQ: "I'm going to sit down with my manager Dave Coldwell.
"I might move up and start tackling some of the names at super-bantamweight or I might stay at bantamweight for one more fight, but I'm going to enjoy Christmas now."
McDonnell has watched Saturday's fight back and concedes he "started slow", but the pre-fight blueprint always involved breaking down Solis over the full 12 rounds.
"We knew it would be a 12-round fight," he said. "The kid's tough, he's strong, that's why we picked him. We picked him for 12 rounds and that's exactly what we got.
"It worked out a lot tougher than we thought, but it's just what I needed to bring me on.
"I was probably 95 per cent confident I'd won the fight, and I was a bit disheartened when I came out and started hearing people had it a draw or me getting beat. In the fight I felt comfortable doing what I was doing.
"The judges are there to score the fight. One was a little bit wide, but that's how he saw it. They're there to do the job and they had me as their winner. That's what I thought - I believe I won the fight."
