Manny Pacquiao has returned to the world of politics after making a winning return to boxing at the weekend.
The 37-year-old Filipino defeated Jessie Vargas via a unanimous decision to reclaim the WBO welterweight title in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Pacquiao, who had announced his retirement after beating Timothy Bradley in April, showed little ring rust on his comeback following a seven-month hiatus, winning on all three scorecards, 114-113, 118-109 and 118-109.
Floyd Mayweather watched the fight from ringside, sparking rumours of a rematch between the pair, while Britain's Kell Brook - the IBF welterweight champion - has targeted a unification fight.
However, Pacquaio is now keen to put boxing to one side for the time being and refocus on his work in politics as a member of the Philippine senate after he was elected for a six-year term in June.
"I went back after the fight because there is still work at the office and I'm excited to get back to work," said Pacquiao, who was speaking alongside Philippine National Police chief Ronald Dela Rosa as he arrived back home at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila at 4.16am on Tuesday.
"So boxing is done, set aside for now, and just focus on work."
Pacquiao, who has a 59-6-2 win-loss-draw record, said he was planning to go straight to the Senate instead of immediately returning to his home town in General Santos City.
