Joe Joyce has reached the Rio Olympic Games after a win over Magomedrasul Majidov, who is the last man to beat Anthony Joshua.

The 30-year-old Londoner qualified for the Games after battling to a points win over Majidov to claim a super-heavyweight gold medal at the European qualifying tournament in Turkey.

Joshua, the IBF heavyweight champion after just 16 bouts as a professional, suffered a narrow 22-21 points defeat to the experienced Azerbaijan fighter at the 2011 World Championships before claiming gold at the London Olympics in 2012.

After a hard-fought bout, Joyce performed a back-flip to celebrate a split decision win over the two-time world champion and can now add an Olympic medal to his Commonwealth gold when he heads to Brazil.

Joyce was one of nine Team GB boxers to have qualified for the Games and performance director Rob McCracken was delighted with his fighters.

McCracken said: "To have come away from such a difficult tournament with nine boxers qualified for Rio is a fantastic achievement.
