George Groves on what's next for him

George Groves has told Sky Sports News HQ he wants to take on Callum Smith and says it is a fight British boxing fans would love to see.

Three-time world title challenger Groves returned to action by stopping Andrea Di Luisa in five rounds at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday.

It was a performance that buoyed his promoter Kalle Sauerland, who wants Smith to prove he's the right man to challenge WBC world super-middleweight champion Badou Jack by facing his boxer first.

Smith is the No 1 contender to face Jack and fights seventh-placed Hadillah Mohoumadi in an eliminator in April, despite Groves retaining his No 3 slot following his split-decision defeat by the champion in September.

Paul Smith says brother Callum calls shots

Asked if he would be happy fighting Smith,'The Saint' told Sky Sports News HQ: "100 per cent. When it came up before, I was already in line for Badou.

"Fighting Smith was unnecessary then. Of course I'd love to fight him and British fans would also appreciate it.

"We are working on a few things and there are a few fights out there that people want to see me in. Callum is one of them.

"I wouldn't say either of us are ducking away from each other but I'd say he's being managed quite well. Both of us are in similar positions. He's No 1 and I'm No 3 but he's fighting a guy who James DeGale beat a few years ago

"But that's good business. I just want to fight for a world title so whoever gets me in line for that to happen then that's the route we'll take."
