Callum Smith will be one fight away from a world-title chance when he tops the bill, live on Sky Sports.

The super-middleweight rising star will take on Hadillah Mohoumadi in a WBC world title final eliminator at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, on April 2.

Victory will take unbeaten Smith (18-0-KO13) into the mandatory challenger position and set up a showdown with current WBC champion Badou Jack.

The Swedish-born member of Team Mayweather successfully defended the belt with a split-decision win over George Groves in September 2015, after knocking him down in the first round.

Callum Smith stopped local rival Rocky Fielding inside the first round in Liverpool to win the British super-middleweight title

James DeGale, the IBF world champion, has already called for a unification fight with Jack, but Smith - who knocked out local rival Rocky Fielding inside one round in his last fight - will be next in line to face the WBC champion, if he gets past Mohoumadi (20-3-1-KO15).

The French-based fighter took DeGale the distance when they met in October 2012 and his return to England will see him put his European title on the line.

"This is the biggest fight of my career by far," said Smith. "It's great that it's at home at the Echo Arena. My dream is to fight for a world title; win this fight and I am there, so there can be no slip-ups.

"He's a tough fighter and has pedigree so I know I have to be at my best, but I believe with a good camp behind me I will be. Then it's onto the world title fight and I believe that I can take the title from Jack and hold it for a long time.

"George Groves didn't want to know when I was calling him out a while back and now the tables are turned, so it's good to know that I am up there with the best 168lbs in the world and I believe that I can go on and beat them all and become the best of the lot."

Fielding (21-1-KO12) will return to action against former European challenger, Christopher Rebrasse (23-4-KO6) a durable Frenchman known as 'L'iceberg', who took both Smith and Groves the full 12 rounds.

"I was gutted about the fight with Callum but it's gone now and I am straight back into a big fight," said Fielding.

"I watched Rebrasse against Callum and George, he's a fit lad and he comes to win, so I have to be at my best. I feel I need to take him out to make a statement and get back up in the running for a world title."

A busy night at the Echo Arena will see Scotty Cardle and Sean 'Masher' Dodd meet in a rematch for Cardle's British lightweight title following their cracking clash in Manchester last November.
