Andy Murray says he has great memories from all his successes at Queen's

Andy Murray says Queen's Club is the ideal place to make his return to competitive action - having been out since Wimbledon last year

Andy Murray is looking forward to returning to the tennis circuit at one of his favourite tournaments.

Murray is hopeful of returning to his brilliant best at some point but expects the process to take a while and is not expecting big things immediately.

The three-time Grand Slam winner and former World No 1 has been absent since Wimbledon last year and had an operation on his hip at the start of 2018.

Murray, however, is now ready to play once again and will take on Nick Kyrgios on Tuesday at the Fever-Tree Championships.

Murray said: "I'm not pain-free and I don't expect to be. I have had issues with my hip for more than eight years now.

"There are a lot of doubts when you have not played for a long time. Coming back from injury, you are always second-guessing yourself.

"I absolutely can be back to my best but I am not putting any expectations on myself. I must be patient and that is not going to be easy."

Murray has won a record five titles at Queen's Club and said: "I was hoping that I was going to be able to play a bit sooner.

"I was planning on playing in Holland last week, but it just came a little bit too soon. But, it is obviously nice for me to play my first match back in 11 months here

"I love it here - great memories from winning the tournament and right back to when I was 18. Seems like a long time ago now!"

Kyrgios almost beat Roger Federer on Saturday and Murray added: "He has a brilliant serve and is very talented.

"There probably won't be long points, which is good. It is going to be a tricky match and a cool place to come back."
