British No 1 Kyle Edmund sailed through his second-round match at the Winston-Salem Open, beating Leonardo Mayer 6-3 6-3. 

Edmund did not face a single break point during his hour and 13 minutes on court, and won 93 per cent of points on his first serve.

His Argentinian opponent lost his serve twice in the first set, before falling in his first service game of the second to hand the match to the Briton.

Edmund, the number three seed, will now face Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena in the next round after he upset compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-1 6-3.

There were also wins for Steve Johnson, Chung Hyeon and Dominik Koepfer.
