Will Greenwood says Wales coach Warren Gatland needs to select Dan Biggar at fly-half for the upcoming November series of internationals, despite excellent form being shown by his rival for the 10 shirt, Rhys Priestland.

Ospreys' fly half, Biggar returned late to the club programme following the Lions summer tour to New Zealand and has struggled for form since.

In contrast, Bath fly-half Priestland - who won the last of his 48 caps in 2016 - has impressed with his displays in the Champions Cup.

But despite these showings and the chequered form of Biggar, Sky Sports pundit and former England star Greenwood says Biggar has consistently proved himself a big-game player for Wales, particularly at home in the Millennium Stadium, and he needs to be first choice.

Wales face Australia on November 11, followed by Tests with Georgia, South Africa and the All Blacks on consecutive Saturdays.

"It's good to see Rhys Priestland in there," Greenwood told Sky Sports Rugby Podcast - The Offload.

"I think he's in wonderful form at the moment. But I still think Biggar is the big-game player of those four games, I've no doubt.

"I'd go Priestland against Georgia which is the second game and I would start with Biggar. I know the form hasn't been great for the Ospreys, but he rarely fails to deliver at the Principality Stadium."

Warren Gatland has named a 36-man squad for matches with Australia, Georgia, South Africa and New Zealand, that includes uncapped quartet Elliot Dee, Sam Cross, Leon Brown and Owen Watkin.

Sam Warburton is out of contention with injury, but Justin Tipuric and Dan Lydiate have been selected despite being fitness doubts.

Injury also deprives Gatland of Northampton Saints wing George North and Cardiff Blues fly-half Gareth Anscombe.

Four more familiar faces are absent from the list in Luke Charteris, Scott Williams, Jamie Roberts and Sam Davies.

Significanty, scrum-half Rhys Webb is included despite a new ruling that that will see him become ineligible for Wales once he moves to Toulon.
