Warrington have suffered a blow with the news that highly-rated utility back Harvey Livett is unlikely to play again this season.

Livett was a last-minute withdrawal from Sunday's Challenge Cup tie against Widnes after injuring his hamstring during the warm-up.

Warrington overturned a 14-point deficit to beat St Helens 40-18 on May 6

The 20-year-old, who made his debut in the opening game of the season, scored a try and six goals in a man-of-the-match performance at scrum-half against St Helens 11 days ago, has now been told he needs to undergo surgery.

"His hamstring injury is season-ending or very close to it," Wolves coach Tony Smith told the Warrington Guardian. "He felt it go in the warm-up on Sunday we've had it scanned.
