Members of Parliament have welcomed the decision of the Rugby Football League to allow teams involved in the Ladbrokes Four Nations Series to wear poppies on their shirts.

A two-minute silence will be held when England take on Australia at the Olympic Stadium in London on Remembrance Sunday, when players from both teams will wear poppies.

Scotland and New Zealand will similarly pay their respects when they meet in Workington on Friday week.

The announcement comes in the wake of the row caused by FIFA's decision to prohibit political, religious or commercial messages on shirts ahead of England's clash with Scotland.
