Adrian Peterson's brief spell with the New Orleans Saints is over as he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday.
Future Hall of Fame running back Peterson has cut a frustrated figure for the Saints through five weeks of the season, earning only 27 carries for 81 yards over his first four games with the team.
It was clear from the Saints' first game that Peterson was not going to fit in with Sean Payton's versatile, high-flying offence an he was seen on the sidelines getting into a heated exchange with his head coach.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, desperate to ignite their struggling running game after lead back David Johnson was injured in week one, have sent the Saints a conditional late-round pick to acquire AP.
Arizona were mentioned as a potential destination for Peterson when it was obvious the running back's 10-year tenure with the Minnesota Vikings was coming to an end during the offseason.
The move puts the seven-time Pro Bowler behind an offensive line that has struggled to date - no Cardinals back is currently averaging more than four yards per carry.
