Derek Carr broke his leg against the Indianapolis Colts

Listen as Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is mic'd up against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16 of the 2016 NFL season.

It was a talking point of week 16, as Derek Carr suffered a season-ending broken leg against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Oakland Raiders quarterback, who was in the race for regular season MVP, was helped off the field by team-mates and medical staff, during the fourth quarter of his team's 33-25 victory over the Colts.

Carr was mic'd up for the game, and was immediately aware of the severity of his injury.

Is Rodgers the NFL's MVP?

After leading his team back in to play-off contention, could Packers QB Aaron Rodgers be MVP?

Despite the obvious shock, pain and disappointment, Carr managed to keep a level head, and wished his replacement Matt McGloin all the best as he took to the field for the remainder of the game.

"Finish it off Matty. I know you got this, I know you do," Carr said as he was assisted off. The crowd continued to chant for Carr as the season's MVP, after his departure.

Oakland can still finish with home-field advantage throughout the play-offs, if they beat the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots lose against the Miami Dolphins. McGloin will continue to deputise as QB in Carr's absence.
