Smith rolled in from three feet at the par-five 18th to secure victory over Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown at TPC Louisiana, after the two teams had exchanged pars over the first three sudden death holes.

The tournament needed a Monday finish for the second year running at TPC Louisiana after more than six hours of play was lost to thunderstorms on Sunday.

Kisner pitched in for eagle at the 18th during the final round to join Brown and Blixt on 27 under and take the tournament to extra holes, with the play-off beginning at the par-five last.

Neither team registered a birdie at the first extra hole, with Smith pitching out of a bunker to six feet but seeing his putt run past the right side.

Blixt's birdie try at the next hole brushed the edge and Kisner pushed his eight-footer past the hole as all four players made par, leaving the teams to head to the par-three ninth.

The pairs still couldn't be separated as they all posted two-putt pars and returned to the 18th, where Smith pitched close to the flag and secured his maiden PGA Tour title.
