By Sky Sports News

Former Tottenham and Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Friedel has been sacked as head coach of New England Revolution.

The Revolution currently sit bottom of the Eastern Conference, having won only two of their opening 12 matches.

Friedel was dismissed following Wednesday's 5-0 defeat to Chicago Fire, which followed on from their 6-1 loss to Philadelphia Union last weekend.

The 47-year-old was appointed as Revolution coach in November 2017, with the team finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference last season.

Assistant coach Mike Lapper will take over on a temporary basis as the club begins their search for a permanent successor.
