Roy Keane is confident the Republic of Ireland can have an impact at Euro 2016 but accepts they are likely to be handed a difficult draw.
The Irish beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 in Dublin on Monday night to secure a 3-1 aggregate win in their play-off and book their place in next summer's tournament in France.
As one of four teams to progress from the play-offs, Ireland will be seeded in pool four alongside British nations Wales and Northern Ireland, and first-time entrants Albania and Iceland.
Keane joked that drawing Germany - whom Ireland beat 1-0 in Dublin during their qualifying campaign - would be a good outcome, but knows his squad are in for a strong challenge next summer.
"We want to go to the Euros and have an impact," said the Republic of Ireland assistant manager. "We know that will be difficult because the seedings are likely to make it a difficult draw for us.
"I think we need to see the draw before we talk about targets. We beat Germany so they won't be a problem - we took care of them so it's just Spain and the rest of them to worry about.
"We'll have a look at that when it comes around.
"The nature of the game is that we face a challenge now because we don't have a big pool of players but people weren't get out of this (qualifying) group either.
"We want to surprise a few people. We won't be short of hunger, desire and determination. Hopefully we can give whoever we play a good game."
If the Irish are to make an impression on the tournament, Keane feels the players will need to maintain the spirit they showed in qualifying, and specifically in the play-offs against Bosnia.
"We've been brave and shown a lot of courage in the past two games because they were pressure games," he said.
"Bosnia have got good players and they're a big strong team but we had the will and the desire to get the right result.
"We need to get a few games under the belts of a few lads now because before we know it we'll be over there."
