Jordan Jones insists he is fully committed to Kilmarnock until the end of the season despite signing a pre-contract agreement with Premiership title rivals Rangers.
Jones will join the Ibrox club on four-year contract when his current deal with Kilmarnock expires at the end of the campaign.
Kilmarnock's next league match comes at home against Rangers on January 23 and Jones has moved to reassure supporters over his commitment the club.
"Everybody has an opinion in football and maybe they are a bit upset in the way it was done but it is part of football," he said.
"The only thing I can do is show how committed I am. My team-mates know I am committed, the gaffer knows I am committed, and everyone in the club knows I am committed.
"I just have to prove that to the fans like I have over the last two-and-a-half years."
Jones angered some Kilmarnock supporters after taking to social media to announce the agreement, describing his move to Ibrox as a "dream come true".
The 24-year-old admits he could have acted differently but is determined to prove his worth to Killie in his remaining months at Rugby Park.
He said: "Looking back I was probably a bit too over-excited. It was a bit of inexperience at the time.
"It has happened now, there is nothing I can do. I can't take it back. The only way I can win them back is my performances on the pitch."
Steve Clarke refused to reveal if he would select Jones against Rangers on Wednesday night but the Killie boss insists he has no problem with players signing pre-contract agreements.
"I have not got an issue with it, it is part and parcel of the modern game," said Clarke. "It all changed when the Bosman rule came in. Players have got more power now, better power.
"I was a player myself and sometimes I wish I had that power when I was playing."
Clarke added: "If the fans boo Jordan then they are booing me as well. If I select Jordan to play for Kilmarnock, then they are criticising my selection."
