Celtic have strongly condemned sickening chants allegedly aimed at former manager Brendan Rodgers that have appeared on social media.

A video has emerged online showing fans allegedly chanting about Rodgers in a pub following the Northern Irishman's decision to quit the Scottish champions on Tuesday to become Leicester boss.

Responding to the distasteful chants, Celtic said in a statement: "We have no knowledge of who these individuals are, or any connection they have to Celtic, but one thing is certain, such disgusting and pathetic behaviour would never have any place at our club and of course we condemn this completely.

James McFadden feels the banner displayed against Brendan Rodgers by Celtic fans at Tynecastle 'wasn't right'

"As we have already said, we thank Brendan for his outstanding and historic contribution to the club and we wish him well for the future.

"We welcome Neil Lennon back to Celtic and now is the time to move forward."
