Paul Clement has agreed in principle to take over as Swansea's new manager.
The deal is yet to be completed but the 44-year-old will fly to the UK on Tuesday and watch the Swans next Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
It is understood Clement was interviewed by phone and video conferencing by majority shareholders Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan, and also met chairman Huw Jenkins for face-to-face discussions.
Sky sources reported this week that Clement had emerged as the preferred candidate to succeed the sacked Bob Bradley, after he was given serious consideration back in October before the American was installed at the helm.
Former Birmingham boss Gary Rowett, who was sacked by the Championship club earlier this month, was understood to be the second choice.
Former Tottenham, Portsmouth and QPR manager Harry Redknapp is also understood to have wanted the job but Swansea did not plan to approach the veteran manager.
The Swans were expected to make their decision by Monday but after a 3-0 thrashing at home to Bournemouth under caretaker boss Alan Curtis, they have moved the process forward.
Clement made his name as an academy coach, then first-team coach and assistant manager at Chelsea, working under Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti, whom he followed as assistant to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
He linked up again with Ancelotti at Bayern last summer after he was sacked by Derby last February, despite the team sitting in fifth place in the Championship.
