It was the sixth defeat in eight league games for Town while the visitors extended their unbeaten run to 14 games.

There were appeals for an Ipswich penalty when Jon Nolan went over in the box but referee Trevor Kettle waved play on and the Sky Blues went ahead in the 16th minute with a brilliantly executed goal.

Fankaty Dabo and Liam Walsh combined and the latter's pinpoint pass found Godden, who calmly slotted his 15th goal of the season past Ipswich keeper Will Norris.

Nolan had a golden chance to draw the sides level when he was put through by Alan Judge with just City keeper Marko Marosi to beat but headed the bouncing ball straight at him.
