Stoke goalkeeper, Jack Butland, will miss Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester City, live on Sky Sports 1HD.

The 23-year-old missed the Potters' opening-day draw at Middlesbrough last weekend after picking up an ankle knock in training on the Friday.

Mark Hughes confirmed in his press conference that Saturday lunchtime's fixture at the Britannia Stadium will come too soon for his first-choice 'keeper, with Shay Given set to continue in goal, while Xherdan Shaqiri is also a doubt.

Hughes said: "Jack Butland won't play, it's a bit too soon for him. Last week was a shock and we were all a bit concerned.

"It's settled down really well and there was possibly a chance he could feature, but it was never in my mind to rush him back in.

"Shaqiri has a problem with his calf, which we will check today. Apart from him and Glen Johnson we're in good health."
