Manuel Pellegrini says Manchester City are ready to "correct a lot of mistakes" when they face Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Pellegrini's side are reeling from back-to-back defeats to Premier League challengers Leicester and Tottenham in the past fortnight.

City are fourth in the Premier League table, six points behind the league leaders Leicester and four points behind second and third placed Tottenham and Arsenal.

Despite their recent title setbacks, Pellegrini remained confident in City's chances of winning the Premier League, but also warned his side to learn from their mistakes.

"We didn't expect to lose those two games in a row against Tottenham and Leicester, (although) they are fighting for the title," he said.

"It was not easy but when you have those defeats you must try to take important things from those defeats.

"We analyse why we didn't play well, which were the mistakes we made. It was a difficult week but a useful week and I hope in the next game we'll correct a lot of mistakes."

City have still not beaten any of the other current top five in the Premier League this season but Pellegrini denied that his side had played poorly against the bigger teams in the division.

"I don't think there's a problem," he added. "Of the last two games we have played, in the second half against Tottenham we played better. They had just one chance - their second goal.

"But I don't want to continue talking about that. I think it was not normal for our team. We normally have a lot of possession, create chances and score goals.

"That's more worrying than one single score. This week we have worked to return to the team we normally are."

City play three cup games in the space of seven days starting with Sunday's fifth-round trip to Stamford Bridge.

Pellegrini's side then travel to Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Wednesday before facing Liverpool in the Capital One Cup final on February 28.
