Vincent Kompany fit to play for Manchester City against Bournemouth

Vincent Kompany made his return for Belgium in their European qualifying win over Israel and insists he will always give everything to club and country

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany insists he is fit to return to Premier League action against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The 29-year-old defender has missed a month's worth of City games with a calf injury but came through an hour of Belgium's 3-1 European Qualifying victory over Israel unscathed on Tuesday night.

Manuel Pellegrini had previously insisted Kompany would not play for Belgium but Sky sources understand City changed their stance and trusted his country to make the right decision.

And Kompany told Sky Sports News HQ: "I feel great and I'm glad I got to do it. It's going again now and I'm looking forward to the next games.

"I needed to be a part of this. I play for my country. I'm proud to do it. There are no small games and I have given everything I have for City, I will always do this, but I do the same for my country."

Kevin de Bruyne is also raring to go for City after scoring his sixth goal in seven games for club and country. Kompany insists he is "not surprised at all" by his compatriot's rich vein of form since a summer move from Wolfsburg.

"I've known him for a long time now, but just it's a natural development," Kompany said.

"We play very offensive football at City, which is perfect for him, but we want to show that with Belgium too and it suits him. When we have players like him, fit and doing well, we can beat any team."
