Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says relief is the overriding emotion among his players following their 2-0 Champions League final win over Tottenham

A jubilant Jurgen Klopp declared Liverpool's Champions League win over Spurs as the best night of his professional career.

It was a matter of result over performance as Liverpool emerged victorious from a poor game at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday night, ending a run of six straight defeats in major finals for Klopp, including three with the Reds.

But after leading the club to their sixth Champions League triumph with a 2-0 win in the final, he told BT Sport: "It is the best night of our professional lives. Did you ever see a team like, this, fighting with no fuel in the tank?

"Tonight was a big challenge to deal with three weeks off, you never have that. To keep rhythm, or get the rhythm back, and for two English teams it was warm. It was a fight. Tonight the boys showed resilience and Alisson had to make a few saves, he was sensational, unbeatable. That helped us, as well as scoring."

Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold became the first player aged under 21 to start back-to-back finals, while a number of his players picked up silverware for the first time after the final whistle - and Klopp added that the Champions League win could be the start of a dynasty at Anfield.

"This is only the start for this group, they're a wonderful age group," he told reporters. "That's big, I have a lot of silver medals and now I have a golden one. That's cool.

"Everybody feels it but tomorrow I'm sure when we drive through the city we will realise what we have done.
