Otto Wallin's ambitious challenge to Anthony Joshua was not accepted, but the unbeaten contender would still welcome a fight with another UK heavyweight.
The Swedish southpaw has previously sparred with the British star and offered his services to Joshua, who is searching for a new opponent for his US debut on June 1, live on Sky Sports Box Office, after Jarrell Miller tested positive for banned substances.
Wallin was denied his shot at the unified champion, but remains hopeful that he can test himself at world-title level in the future.
"I asked for it and that would be a great opportunity," he said. "I know Joshua is a great fighter, but I'm very good too and I want to show that.
"I was definitely interested in that fight, but they got hold of us and said it wasn't really going to happen right now. I respect, at least, they got hold of us and let us know.
"If he's still the top guy when I'm in that position, then we have a fight."
The 28-year-old's US debut came to a premature ending as opponent Nick Kizer suffered a first-round cut, forcing the bout to end as a no contest.
But Wallin is eager to return to action and would relish a fight against British rivals such as Derek Chisora and David Allen, who both claimed victories at The O2 last weekend.
"There's a lot of good heavyweights in the UK," said Wallin. "There's great talent over there and I'm sure I'm going to fight one of those guys at one point.
"I didn't see the Chisora fight. He won at least.
"That would definitely be a good fight for me, I think. Dave Allen, I've seen some fights of him and I think he's a decent fighter. That's someone I would like to fight."
The Finland-based Robert Helenius has called for a Scandinavian showdown, a fight that could interest Wallin, if he returns to Europe.
"When he was calling me out, he didn't have anything to offer," said Wallin. "I fought (Adrian) Granat and now I'm in the States. If I'm going to have another fight in Sweden, that would be perfect to fight him.
"That would be a good fight for the Scandinavian market. I believe that I have the youth, the skill and the movement to beat him."
