Anthony Joshua believes the best is yet to come from Katie Taylor ahead of her WBA lightweight title defence against Jessica McCaskill.

Ireland's amateur star has made a hugely impressive transition to professional boxing, winning the WBA belt in just her seventh fight, and will make the first defence against McCaskill at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Wednesday night, live on Sky Sports.

Joshua, who like Taylor took Olympic gold at London 2012, has not been surprised by her flying start and insists the 31-year-old will perform even better as she continues to adapt to life in the paid ranks.

She's impressed me with her performances and she's only going to improve as a professional.

Asked if he expected Taylor's instant success, Joshua told Sky Sports. "One hundred per cent.

"You've got to remember, she's got a country behind her. It's not just a group of people to push you on, it's a whole country that support her. She's very, very talented and women's boxing is getting very popular."

"In the amateurs, she reached the heights of what an amateur could, that's why she turned pro. She will definitely keep on doing well."

Taylor claimed the title with a dominant points win over Anahi Sanchez, which included a second-round knockdown of the Argentinian, and will next face McCaskill, an American challenger who also enjoyed success at amateur level.
