Sami Zayn promised he would 'lie down' for Kevin Owens at Fastlane, at which three more title matches were confirmed on SmackDown.
Zayn and Owens will be part of a fatal five-way match for AJ Styles' WWE title at the March 11 Sky Sports Box Office event, with Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin also competing.
But on SmackDown last night, Zayn told Owens - who had just defeated Ziggler - that his plan was for the Yep movement duo to join forces to take out all of the opponents.
The plan, Zayn said, would then be for him to "lay down in the centre of the ring" and allow Owens to pin him to win the title.
The bizarre admission is unlikely to pass without a response from SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon, whose dislike for the pair is clear, and general manager Daniel Bryan, who has done his best to defend them from perceived unfair treatment from McMahon.
Orton confirmed as Roode's US title opponent
Despite the best efforts of Jinder Mahal to antagonise the United States champion Bobby Roode, McMahon decreed that it will be Randy Orton who challenges for Roode's title at Fastlane.
Orton had earlier been put down by a Glorious DDT from the champ, who then ate a huge Khallas from Mahal.
General manager Bryan was impressed enough by the Modern-Day Maharajah to suggest he would be worthy of a place in the United States title match, but was overruled by McMahon.
Riott Squad bounce back - and get title shot
Charlotte Flair's plan to inflict a decisive defeat on the Riott Squad backfired badly, as her three-woman team - which also included Becky Lynch and Naomi - fell victim to the nefarious trio in a triple tag match.
But worse was to come for Flair when it was confirmed her women's championship will be on the line against Ruby Riott at Fastlane.
Flair will be confident of retaining in a one-on-one match but will be wary of the presence of Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan as external influences at the Columbus pay-per-view.
The New Day on championship course
Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin's quest for another attempt at the Usos' tag team titles suffered a major setback as they lost a No 1 contenders' match to The New Day.
In an excellent see-saw bout, New Day picked up the win when Xavier Woods flattened Benjamin with a brutal knee for the three-count.
Therefore, it is the New Day who will nominate two members to face the always-impressive Usos at Fastlane next month.
