After having his credentials questioned by Dean Ambrose, AJ Styles kicked his Backlash rival in the crotch and struck him with a trophy.

WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose came to blows with his Backlash opponent AJ Styles during a face-to-face on Tuesday night's edition of Smackdown.

Ambrose wound up Styles by presenting him with a "bowling" trophy, insisting that was the only thing The Phenomenal One would ever win.

Styles responded by rattling off his list of achievements, including pinning John Cena at SummerSlam, as the rivals got more and more heated.

Styles then struck Ambrose with a low blow and broke his trophy over the champion's back to wrestle the momentum ahead of Sunday's Sky Sports Box Office showdown.

The Georgian will be looking to claim his first world title in WWE this weekend - but Nikki Bella, Natalya, Naomi, Carmella, Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss will be aiming to become Smackdown's inaugural Women's Champion.

The six competitors locked horns twice on Smackdown, firstly when a forum descended into a brawl and then when they met in a three-on-three tag-team encounter.
