Atlanta Falcons are headed for the Super Bowl and they might want to take saxophonist Mike Phillips with them after his efforts at the weekend. Before their 44-21 victory over Green Bay in Sunday's NFC Championship game, there was the traditional playing of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' but Phillips had a unique twist on the American national anthem. The saxophonist, decked out in a Falcons jersey, was not about to let Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman and Matt Ryan steal his thunder and he took to the stage to unleash one of the most unorthodox, yet hugely impressive versions of the famous anthem. With no words and just the sax for company, Phillips hit and held plenty of notes to prove he could give Luke Bryan a run for his money at Super Bowl LI in just over a fortnight when he sings the anthem before the showpiece, which will also have Lady Gaga in attendance for the prestigious half-time show. Hit play on the video at the top of the page to see and hear the anthem in all its glory.
