West Ham are considering making an approach to take Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan, Sky sources understand.
The Belgium international has spent the first half of the season on loan with Valencia but has not played since a 2-1 defeat to Sporting Gijon on January 8 as the Spanish side attempt to cut short his spell.
West Ham are in the market to add depth to their forward line this month.
The Hammers are close to agreeing a deal with Celta Vigo for striker Maxi Gomez, but he is not expected to arrive until the summer, should the proposed £40m deal go through.
Meanwhile, Lucas Perez is close to joining Real Betis in a £3.5m deal. Schalke were also interested in Perez but wanted loan deal with an option to buy, while Valencia have had a £7m offer rejected for Javier Hernandez.
Should West Ham let one or both of Perez and Hernandez leave the club before the window shuts on January 31, they would be short of forward options behind Marco Arnautovic - who recently signed a new contract - and Andy Carroll.
Chelsea's preference is to sell Batshuayi on a permanent deal, rather than to agreeing to another loan.
Everton showed interest earlier in the window but any move to bring in Batshuayi would hinge on the on the club being able to sell Turkish striker Cenk Tosun.
Crystal Palace have enquired into the availability of Tosun, who has scored only seven goals in 33 appearances since joining Everton from Besiktas for £27m last January.
