Andy Murray and Johanna Konta must wait for their next matches at the Rio Olympics after persistent rain prevented any matches on Wednesday.

Murray, the defending Olympic champion in the men's singles, was due to face Italy's Fabio Fognini in the last-16 before the damp conditions forced organisers to scrap their daily schedule.

Konta's quarter-final match was also postponed, allowing her more recovery time after her gruelling win over Svetlana Kuznetsova.

The British women's No 1 was forced to dig deep for a 3-6 7-5 7-5 win over the Russian eighth seed in a match that lasted three hours and seven minutes.

As part of her busy schedule, Konta was also set to team up with Jamie Murray in the mixed doubles.
