Emma Raducanu withdraws from Transylvania Open having recently been forced to retire injured in her Korea Open semi-final against Jelena Ostapenko; former US Open champion could also be forced to miss Guadalajara later this month

British No 1 Emma Raducanu has been forced to pull out of the upcoming Transylvania Open due to a wrist injury.
A message on the tournament's Twitter feed read: "Sadly, Emma Raducanu is forced to withdraw from Transylvania Open due to a wrist injury. Get well fast, Emma! We're looking forward to see you soon."
It marks the latest in a series of injury setbacks for the 2021 US Open champion after she withdrew from her Korea Open semi-final against Jelena Ostapenko with a muscle injury a week and a half ago.
The injury is also likely to keep the 19-year-old out of what was scheduled to be her last WTA Tour event of the season in Guadalajara later this month.
Great Britain's Billie Jean King Cup captain Anne Keothavong, meanwhile, will be keeping her fingers crossed that Raducanu will be available for the Finals week in Glasgow early next month.
Keothavong is due to announce her line-up for the 12-country shoot-out at the Emirates Arena on Monday but Raducanu and her team may feel it will benefit her more to draw a line under a difficult season and focus instead on 2023.
Raducanu was recently knocked out in the first round at the Agel Open after suffering a 7-5 6-4 defeat to fifth seed Daria Kasatkina.
Her season has previously been hindered by blisters as well as hip and back issues, while the news is also a blow to her hopes of pushing back towards the top 50 from her current ranking of 67, in light of reaching her first career WTA Tour semi-final in Korea.
Raducanu had been relishing a return to Cluj, where she reached the quarter-finals last year before losing to Marta Kostyuk.
She had also been expected to join a star-studded line-up at the Guadalajara Open Akron, the final WTA 1000 event of the season, after being awarded a wild card, but the latest injury could spell the end of her season.
Raducanu is due to begin preparations for the 2023 season with an exhibition singles match against Ons Jabeur at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in December.
She had been due to play Belinda Bencic in the 2021 edition of the exhibition, but was forced to withdraw due to contracting Covid-19.
