The final tournament of the regular ATP calendar saw a number of first-class shots in the French capital, including hotdogs and an unbelievable backspin volley.

Nadal, a 16-time Grand Slam champion, could only watch and appreciate a perfectly timed between-the-legs shot from Pablo Cuevas during the Spaniard's last-16 meeting before he was forced to pull out of the tournament with the recurrence of a knee injury.

World No 11, Del Potro, watched helplessly as Robin Haase's volley had so much spin it unbelievably bounced back over the net onto the Dutchman's side.
